This package contains two trackside assets for speed panels (and a cdp-file with common dependencies). One has the "early" style, the other the "late" style (new in this version). In the previous version, based on the name-effect, the lettering was found to completely fade when a train or locomotive cast its front light on the speedboard. The current version uses replaceable textures for the lettering. This has allowed the use of lettering which is in the same style as that of the prototype, and hence the introduction of "early" and "late" styles. In the "new" style, an additional speedboard can be found, which is used where a slow line joins a higher speed line in a deceleration section. Furthermore a lower post (2.7 m at the top) has been added.
Each of the two items is a menu-driven (? in Surveyor) asset that allows different types of speed panels with adjustable speed values to appear on a post; three post heights are possible. This asset does not set the speed for trains running on Trainz AI. For that to happen, one has to use invisible speed signs with most panels. Speed Reduction panels, however, refer to a speed limit that is imposed some distance further down the line, 300 - 700 m, depending on the speeds involved. The start of the zone is indicated by the Origin panel, unless it starts at a junction. In the latter case, no panel is used.
